Unluckly not to be in T20I squad vs South Africa

BCCI has announced the squad for the T20I series against South Africa in June. The men in blue will be part of five T20I games between the 9th and 19th of June. In this article, we take a look at six players unlucky to miss out on the T20I squad for the series against South Africa.

The competition for spots is intense in Team India. Hence, it is inevitable that a few players miss out on the squad eventually. We take a look at a few of them who will not be part of the series.

Here is the T20I Squad for the series against South Africa - KL Rahul (Capt), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, Deepak Hooda, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant(VC) (wk), Dinesh Karthik (wk), Hardik Pandya, Venkatesh Iyer, Y Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, R Bishnoi, Bhuvneshwar, Harshal Patel, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, Umran Malik.

1) Rahul Tripathi

Rahul Tripathi is one of the players unlucky to miss out on the T20I squad for the series against South Africa. The Maharashtra cricketer has been in fine form in IPL 2022. With the seniors missing out, it was expected that Rahul will get a chance. However, the management has decided against the selection of the SRH cricketer.

2) Sanju Samson

It is extremely surprising that Sanju Samson has missed out on the squad. With the likes of Suryakumar Yadav missing out, Sanju was seen as a player who could have filled that role. However, shockingly, Team India will be without the services of the Rajasthan Royals skipper.

3) T Natarajan

T Natarajan came back to form in style in IPL 2022. However, in the last few games, he has struggled due to injury and poor form. Now, he has not been considered for the squad. Instead, the management has gone ahead with uncapped cricketer Arshdeep Singh, who has left many impressed with his skills at the death.

4) Mohsin Khan

India has been searching for a tall left-arm pacer who could move the ball at the start of the innings. Mohsin Khan promised that with his performances in IPL 2022. There were reports that he would get a chance in the squad. However, he has not been selected.

5) Krunal Pandya

With Jadeja going to England and Axar not having a great IPL 2022, many felt Krunal Pandya would get a go. However, the Baroda all-rounder has missed out on the opportunity to be part of Team India. His brother Hardik, though, has returned to the squad.

6) Washington Sundar

Washington Sundar has been struggling with injuries in recent months. It happened in IPL 2022, as well. Now, the player is not part of the T20I squad. Deepak Hooda, who is also an off-spinner, will be expected to do that job in Washi's absence.
