6 players who have taken a six-wicket haul more than once in ODIs

In the history of the ODI format, many players have taken a six-wicket haul. However, there are a few players who did it more than once. In this article, we take a look at six players who have taken a six-wicket haul more than once in ODIs.

It is a terrific achievement to pick a five-wicket haul in any format of the game. Some players have bettered their tally by picking more scalps. We take a look at a few of them in this article.

1) Waqar Younis - 4 Times

Waqar Younis is one of the six players who have taken a six-wicket haul more than once in ODIs. The Pakistan pacer did it on four different occasions. Just when he had started out, he did it for the first time in 1990 against Sri Lanka. Later on, in both 1994 and 1996, he took a six-wicket haul against the Kiwis. He had to wait for five more years to repeat the feat in 2001 against Australia.

2) Ashish Nehra - 2 Times

Ashish Nehra is the only Indian on this list. In 2003, he pulled off one of the most memorable bowling performances in a 50-over World Cup. He single-handedly helped India in putting England in a difficult situation. The left-arm seamer later repeated the feat in 2005.

3) Ajanta Mendis - 2 Times

Ajanta Mendis is also one of the players who have taken a six-wicket haul more than once in ODIs. The Sri Lankan mystery spinner was a rage back then. In the year 2008 itself, he picked two 6-wicket-hauls. Against India, he was terrific and he also had a similar show against Zimbabwe.

4) Shane Bond - 2 Times

In 2003 against India and then in 2005 against the Aussies, the Kiwi pacer collected a six-wicket haul. One of the fastest pacers of this century, due to frequent injuries, Bond had a difficult time in his career. Nevertheless, he did have a few memorable performances to his name.

5) Mitchell Starc - 2 Times

When Mitchell Starc picks wickets, he usually collects them in a heap. While we have seen this on many occasions, the beginning of 2015 was extremely memorable for him. Within a span of one month, he collected two six-wicket hauls, one against India and the other against New Zealand.

6) Sandeep Lamichhane - 2 Times

One of the recent entrants to this list of players who have taken a six-wicket haul more than once in ODIs is Sandeep Lamichhane. While the first one was in In 2020 against the USA, the next was in 2021 against Papua New Guinea. The spinner is arguably the best player that his country has seen. Nepal would hope for similar performances in the future.
