6 players who returned to their old franchises in IPL 2023 Auctions

IPL 2023 Auctions ended on Friday in Kochi. Many teams went back for some of their former cricketers for the event. This happens often in IPL. In this article, we take a look at six players who returned to their old franchises in IPL 2023 Auctions.

Some players might not have been suitable for a franchise at one time. However, they could be useful for them now. Therefore, teams might go back to hiring them. It has happened with respect to IPL 2023, too.

1) Sam Curran - Punjab Kings

Sam Curran is one of the players who returned to their old franchises in IPL 2023 Auctions. It was with PBKS that Sam Curran made his IPL debut. Back then, too, it was for a big amount and this time around, it is for the highest ever amount in the history of IPL Auctions.

2) Ishant Sharma - Delhi Capitals

Having released Shardul Thakur to KKR, Delhi needed some experience in the pace department. Hence, they have hired veteran Ishant Sharma, who might be used as an Impact Player for the franchise. He would also impart his knowledge to some of the younger players.

3) Shakib Al Hasan - Kolkata Knight Riders

Shakib is also one of the players who returned to their old franchises in IPL 2023 Auctions. The Bangladesh all-rounder has played a lot for KKR and he will return to play for the franchise. It will be a terrific spin attack for KKR if they find a place for Shakib in the playing XI.

4) Mandeep Singh - Kolkata Knight Riders

In fact, KKR happens to be Mandeep Singh's first franchise in IPL. This time, he will be used as a backup for the Indian batters. If N Jagadeesan does not deliver, the team could also have Mandeep Singh as an opening option. He shall be a good choice to have in the squad.

5) Piyush Chawla - Mumbai Indians

Piyush Chawla is also one of the players who returned to their old franchises in IPL 2023 Auctions. MI yet again did not invest big in a spinner. They have gone back to Piyush, whom they had a few years ago. He might as well get a few games because of the lack of spinners in MI.

6) Bhagat Varma - Chennai Super Kings

CSK had Bhagat Varma on the roster a couple of seasons ago. They hired him at his base price for IPL 2023. It needs to be seen if he would get a game or not.
