7 Indians who won the Man of the Match on their Test Debut

While representing the nation in Tests is a massive achievement, earning the Player of the Match Award is something very few cricketers have accomplished. A few cricketers, though, have done it in their first game itself. Till now, seven Indians have done that. On that note, in this article, we take a look at seven Indians who won the Man of the Match on their Test Debut.
1) Pravin Amre
It was in 1992 that Pravin Amre became the first Indian to achieve this feat. The middle-order batter scored a century in South Africa. The game ended in a draw but India got a good batter, who displayed his skills in game number one itself against a strong Proteas pace attack.
2) RP Singh
RP Singh is one of the Indians who won the Man of the Match on their Test Debut. Till now, the Uttar Pradesh cricketer happens to be the only Indian pacer to get the Man of the Match award on their Test debut. In 2006, the left-arm pacer made his debut in Pakistan. Eventually, though, it was in T20Is that RP Singh found his form.
3) R Ashwin
While India was looking for a future replacement for Anil Kumble, R Ashwin made his debut and picked nine wickets in that game. It was a brilliant show against West Indies. Even now, Ashwin is an important part of Team India.
4) Shikhar Dhawan
Shikhar Dhawan is also one of the Indians who won the Man of the Match on their Test Debut. The southpaw scored the fastest debut hundred by any batsman on debut in just 85 balls. It was a stunning knock against Australia and for a few more years, Dhawan opened the batting for India in Tests.
5) Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma had to wait long for his Test debut but he did not take long to showcase that he belongs to the format. Despite his great start, Rohit was sidelined again in Tests. Nevertheless, the player is now the captain of the Indian Test Team.
6) Prithvi Shaw
At just 18 years, Shaw scored a century at Rajkot against West Indies. He finished his knock at a strike rate higher than hundred. India needs players such as Shaw in the squad. It may not be a surprise if he makes a comeback again.
7) Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer is the latest to join this list of Indians who won the Man of the Match on their Test Debut. Iyer also had to wait sometime before he made his Test debut. He had a stunning debut and straightaway cemented his spot in the Indian middle order.
