A Strong Playing XI Comprising Cricketers Who Did Not Play A Single Match in IPL 2022

IPL 2022 is in the history books now, with Gujarat Titans winning their maiden trophy this year. GT captured the championship by defeating inaugural champions Rajasthan Royals in the summit clash. 

There were many standout performances from players of all 10 teams in IPL 2022. It was a long season, and most of the players as well as replacement signings got a chance to play this season. However, there were also a few names who only warmed the benches in IPL 2022. 

In this listicle now, we will form a strong playing XI comprising the benched cricketers of IPL 2022. 

Openers - Rahmanullah Gurbaz and C Hari Nishaanth 

Gujarat Titans wicket-keeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz will open the innings with Chennai Super Kings player C Hari Nishaanth. Both batters have good records in T20 cricket. However, their teams did not give them a chance to play this year. 

Middle Order - Yash Dhull, Gurkeerat Singh Mann and Kyle Mayers

Yash Dhull led India to the U-19 World Cup earlier this year, but Delhi Capitals did not pick him in their playing XI. Gurkeerat Singh Mann warmed the benches at Gujarat Titans, while Caribbean star Kyle Mayers could not make his debut for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2022. 

All-rounders - Mohammad Nabi, Chamika Karunaratne and Benny Howell 

The all-rounders’ section features three overseas all-rounders. Afghan star Mohammad Nabi and Sri Lankan all-rounder Chamika Karunaratne surprisingly did not play a single match for Kolkata Knight Riders. Similarly, England’s T20 specialist Benny Howell was left out of Punjab Kings playing XI even though the team was knocked out before their last league game. 

Bowlers - Ishan Porel, Lungi Ngidi and Noor Ahmad

Punjab Kings fast bowler Ishan Porel is reckoned by many as a future star for India, but he did not get a game in IPL 2022. Lungi Ngidi, who is one of the top pacers for South Africa, warmed the benches at DC, while Afghanistan’s rising star Noor Ahmad did not get a game in the GT colors this year.
