Aakash Chopra, a former cricketer turned commentator, has named his Indian T20 World Cup 2022 squad. Chopra left out Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, and Rishabh Pant, much to the surprise of many. While this may appear perplexing, Chopra clarified that the team was chosen based on the assumption that the World Cup would be held tomorrow, rather than in October or November. Players were chosen based on their IPL 2022 performances, according to Chopra.

Chopra revealed his T20 World Cup selection in a brief video on his YouTube channel. As openers, he chose Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul. Rahul's IPL 2022 performance was incredible, with over 600 runs. Kishan, on the other hand, blew hot and cold throughout the Mumbai Indians' season before gaining some traction in the latter stages.

Rahul Tripathi and Suryakumar Yadav were picked third and fourth, respectively, by Chopra. "I've maintained Rahul Tripathi at No. 3." He looked brilliant this season, with a high strike rate and match-winning performances. I've kept SKY at No. 4. He hasn't played all of the games, but in the ones he has, he has performed at a higher level," he added.

Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, and Krunal Pandya took the following three spots.  Pandya and Karthik had a fantastic IPL 2022 season, storming their way into the Indian lineup for the T20I series against South Africa. Chopra also picked Hardik Pandya as the team's captain.

"I've kept Krunal Pandya at No. 7 because he's had a fantastic season. As a bowler, he has been very economical, and as a batter, he has made critical runs. He can bat anywhere in the order. In the middle, you'll need a left-hander.

The four front-line bowlers in Aakash Chopra's T20 World Cup original XI were Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami, Avesh Khan, and Arshdeep Singh. Sanju Samson, Deepak Hooda, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshal Patel, and Jasprit Bumrah are the remaining five members of the 16-man squad.
