Clouds of uncertainty looms over Chennai vs Delhi match after DC player tests COVID positive

Another DC player tested positive for Covid-19, the clash between CSK and DC might get cancelled?
The COVID outbreak forced the last season of the Indian Premier League to reschedule the second half from India to the United Arab Emirates. This season as well, a couple weeks back, a few players and members of the coaching staff of the Delhi Capitals were tested positive for COVID 19. And, just before the clash between DC and CSK, one member of the DC camp tested positive for the virus.

As a result, all the DC players and staff members have been forced to go into isolation till the next round of testing. As per the report, it has been confirmed that a net bowler of the team has returned positive, which has caused a big setback for the evening game between both teams. The game is scheduled to be played at the DY Patil Stadium at 7:30 pm.

Earlier, as well, Mitchell Marsh and Tim Seifert, along with four other coaching staff members, were tested positive for COVID. That led to the isolation of all the members, and the venue was also changed. As per the media reports, all the DC members have gone through a fresh round of testing that was conducted on Sunday morning.

An IPL source has confirmed to PTI ahead of the match that a net bowler returned positive on Sunday morning and all the players have been instructed to stay in their respective rooms. Notably, this is not the first incident with DC. Before this, one of the family members of DC head coach Ricky Ponting had also tested COVID positive, and due to that, Ponting was under isolation for five days.

There is no further update till now about the test conducted in the morning. So the match is still in doubt. But if it gets cancelled or postponed, that might affect DC's chance to be a big existent.

Delhi Capitals are sitting in fifth position with five wins and five losses under their belt. And the match against CSK is a virtual do-or-die game for them. This win will help them inch closer to the playoff stage.
