On May 25, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that VVS Laxman will be the coach of the team for the tour of Ireland starting June 26. Meanwhile, India's head head coach Rahul Dravid will be with the senior team for the rescheduled fifth Test in England as well as the white ball series. Dravid will join the Indian team after the series against South Africa.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah has confirmed that Laxman will accompany the Indian team to Dublin. Similar management was seen last year as well when the then National Cricket Academy (NCA) chief Rahul Dravid was made the coach of a second string team for a limited overs series against Sri Lanka. The then head coach Ravi Shastri was on a tour of England with the Test team.

Let us tell you, Laxman is currently working as NCA Director in Bangalore. Laxman also has many years of coaching experience. VVS has served as the batting coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) before serving as the NCA director in Bangalore. Not only this, he has also worked as batting consultant for Bengal Ranji team. He was also in charge of the Indian team in the Under-19 World Cup in West Indies earlier this year.

After the conclusion of IPL 2022, the Indian squad for the 5 match T20I series against South Africa has been announced. While most the senior players have been rested for the series, many young players have been given a chance.

While Dinesh Karthik and Hardik Pandya have returned to the team after performing well in IPL 2022, Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik have been selected for the Indian team for the first time. KL Rahul will lead the Indian in the series against the Proteas.
