Bangladesh team's performance has been very poor recently. Shakib recently settled everything with the board after backing out of his deal with BetWinner News. On Sunday, hours after his arrival from the US, he had a closed-door meeting with BCB president Nazmul Hassan at his residence. There was a discussion about this matter.
Bangladesh team director Khalid Mahmood, BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin and their selection panel member Habibul Bashar later attended the meeting along with BCB Cricket Operations President Jalal Yunus and some other board directors.
Bangladesh's Cricket Operations Chairman said that Shakib Al Hasan will remain the captain of the team till the upcoming T20 World Cup.
This is not that Shakib will be captaining for the first time, even before this he has led the team. It has to be seen whether his captaincy will guide Bangladesh back on their feet after a surprising series defeat against Zimbabwe in ODIs and T20Is.
With the arrival of Shakib Al Hasan, the team will definitely be stronger. Bangladesh will kick-off their Asia Cup 2022 campaign against Afghanistan on the 30th of August, which will be followed by Sri Lanka on the 1st of September.
