Bangladesh suffers a huge loss, Mushfiqur Rahim announces his retirement from International T20
Thus, the veteran wicket-keeper Mushfiqur Rahim announced his retirement from the T20 international on Sunday. Rahim featured in both games but couldn't perform. He announced his T20I retirement on Twitter and confirmed that he would continue playing ODIs and Tests for Bangladesh.
He also stated that if given the opportunity, he will continue to play in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and other franchise leagues. Notably, after the early exit of Bangladesh from the ongoing Asia Cup, the veteran wicket-keeper was under heavy criticism. As a result, he decided to retire from the shortest format.
I would like to announce my retirement from T20 INTERNATIONALS and focus on Test and ODI formats of the game. I will be available to play franchise leagues when the opportunity arrives. Looking forward to proudly represent my nation in the two formats-MR15

He wrote, "I would like to announce my retirement from T20 INTERNATIONALS and focus on Test and ODI formats of the game. I will be available to play franchise leagues when the opportunity arrives. Looking forward to proudly represent my nation in the two formats-MR15."
Rahim scored just five runs in two matches of the Asia Cup and was also poor with the gloves as well. He dropped the catch of Kusal Mendis in the second game, who ended up scoring 60 runs in the end. On the other hand, being a wicket-keeper, he couldn't convince skipper Shakib Al Hasan to go for a referral after Mendis got a faint edge.
During his T20I career, Rahim played a total of 102 matches for Bangladesh and scored 1500 runs at an average of 19.48 and a strike rate of 115.03, with six half-centuries under his name. So it means he will not be part of Bangladesh's plan for the upcoming T20 World Cup as well.
