India’s squad for 5 T20I against the Proteas was announced a week before the start of the series. Big stars like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah were reseted ahead of the summer in the UK. KL Rahul was initially named as the captain of the team. But due to groin injury Rahul was unable to compete in the series. Many expected the IPL winning captain Hardik Pandya to be given the captaincy but it was Rishabh Pant who got the nod.

Initially India lost the first 2 matches of the series against the Proteas which started the questions over both the batting and captaincy of Rishabh Pant. Though India won the next 2 T20I to level the series and took the match to the decider at Chinnaswamy, Rishabh Pant form is a big question mark for team India. Even some former Indian cricketers said that he may not be the first choice wicket keeper in the playing 11 moving forward.

Danish Kaneria, a former Pakistan leg spinner said Rishabh Pant is not squatting down when the fast bowler is bowling and he also said being bulky doesn't help him to come up quickly.

He said, “ I'd like to discuss Pant's wicketkeeping. I've noticed one thing: when a fast bowler is bowling, he doesn't squat down and sit on his toes. He appears to be overweight, and being bulky doesn't give him much time to catch up”.

India will play a series decider today(June19)  at Chinnaswamy stadium at Bengaluru . India will look to win the series with momentum on their side. South African batting looks unsettled. Indian bowlers will look to capitalize on this. Looking at the Indian batting, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant will be in the spotlight today. Rishabh pant will also look to win the toss for the first time in the series. Temba Bavuma has won all the four tosses in this series.
