"Certainly in CSK's scheme of thing" - CEO Kasi Viswanathan shut down the rumours of a rift between CSK and Ravindra Jadeja
The biggest news in town was related to the rift between Chennai Super Kings and their former skipper, Ravindra Jadeja. The all-rounder also got injured and that has forced him to be ruled out of the rest of the remaining IPL. That has increased doubts in the minds of many. However, now the CEO of the franchise, Kasi Viswanathan, has come up to end all the rumors.

Notably, the franchise also unfollowed the all-rounder from their official Instagram handle, which has raised more eyebrows. On the other hand, during an interaction with The Indian Express, the CEO said that he was unaware of the social media stuff and there had been no problems. However, he pointed out the fact that the all-rounder firmly remains in the scheme of things for CSK in the coming future.

Adding to that, he said that Jadeja suffered the rib injury during the game against RCB and that's why he didn't feature against DC and it was purely decided on advice from the medical team that he couldn't feature in the rest of the season.

Earlier, a statement from the franchise confirmed that the all-rounder had confirmed a bruised rib and was under medical observation and that the injury had ruled him out of the rest of the IPL.

Jadeja was appointed the captain of the team just ahead of the first game. He was also the first retention of the franchise for an amount of INR 16 crore, and MS Dhoni was the second retention for INR 12 crore. The plan was to hone his leadership skills while MS Dhoni is still around the team. However, it didn't go well with the team performance, and his individual performance also dipped downward after appointed as the captain.

That was the reason he handed over the captaincy role back to MSD midway through the season. That was confirmed by a press release by the franchise, which said that the all-rounder has decided to step down from the role of captain to focus on his individual performance and has asked MSD to lead the team. It is also said that Dhoni has agreed to take the charge and let the all-rounder work on his individual performance.

MS Dhoni started the stint with a win over SRH and in the post-match presentation also pointed out the decision of the all-rounder. He said that Jadeja was aware that he would be leading the side from this reason. MSD also stated that he assisted him with decision-making in the first two matches, but after that he insisted Jadeja make his own decision.

The CSK skipper also added that it takes a lot from a player when he becomes captain of the side and it might have affected his performance. The all-rounder entered this season after a good run in the T20I homeseries against Sri Lanka. But his performance let everyone down. Jadeja has scored 116 runs and taken just five wickets so far. Concluding the conversation, Viswanathan said that there are many Indian players who are struggling this season, but form is temporary and class is permanent. He said, "Maybe the captaincy weighed a bit heavy on him, but we didn't want to lose Jadeja, the player."
