"Represent Indian team is something I dream of"- Dinesh Karthik on comeback into the team after 3 years
After a brilliant Indian Premier League (IPL) season with Royal Challengers Bangalore, Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik has been recalled to the Team India team for the present five-match T20I series against South Africa (RCB). Karthik, who is making his comeback, has been impressive with the bat in the T20I series, scoring a handy 30* runs in 21 balls in the second T20I.
Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released a video of Karthik's interview with the board before the fourth T20I on Friday in Rajkot, in which he makes a number of significant revelations regarding his comeback.
When asked how he feels about being a member of the current India squad, Karthik stated that he is ecstatic and honored to be a part of such a fantastic team and atmosphere. "I've been looking from the outside for about three years," Karthik said when asked about his return to the team. He also said, I've been thinking about how great it feels to be a part of this group. Every second I'm here, I'm loving it and glad for it. Dinesh Karthik also said that he had a desire and fire in his belly to comeback and perform for team India.
Karthik played the position as a finisher in the IPL 2022, finishing the season as one of the team's leading run scorers. Karthik scored 330 runs during the course of 16 games. He had a strike rate of 183.33 and a batting average of 55.00.
Karthik has played in all three T20Is so far, returning scores of 1*(2), 30*(21) and 6(8). South Africa won the first two matches to take a 2-1 lead in the series, but India won the third match in Visakhapatnam by 48 runs. The fourth T20I between the two teams will take place on Friday in Rajkot. Indian team will look to win this match and take the series to the decider match at Chinnaswamy.
