"Everyone wants to play for their country" - Rahul Tripathi opens up on possibility of inclusion into the Indian squad

Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Mumbai Indians by 3 runs in a thrilling match on Tuesday at Wankhede Stadium to keep their playoffs hopes alive. In the match played between the teams, Sunrisers Hyderabad batted first and scored 193 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 6 wickets. 

In reply to which, Mumbai Indians could score 190 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Rahul Tripathi played an important role in Sunrisers Hyderabad's victory. The Ranchi-born Maharashtra batsman scored 76 runs in 44 balls with the help of 9 fours and three sixes. Rahul was adjudged the Man of the Match for his brilliant innings.

After the match, debates started on that Tripathi should be included into the Indian squad for the upcoming South Africa T20Is. And now, Rahul Tripathi himself has reacted to it. 

Tripathi said that it is everyone's dream to play for their national team. He then added that if he keeps performing well and if the selectors believe that he can win matches for India, then he is ready.

India has to play a home T20 International series against South Africa after the IPL 2022 season concludes, in which many youngsters are expected to get a chance. Tripathi has knocked on the door of the national team by performing brilliantly in the current IPL season.

So far in the IPL 2022, Rahul has scored 393 runs in 13 matches at an average of 39.30. During this he scored three half-centuries. He is the highest run-scorer in IPL 2022 when it comes to the uncapped player category. 

Rahul said further added to his statement that where the team makes him play, he is ready for it, but personally prefers to bat at number 3. He said that a number 3's role is to continue the momentum if openers give a good start, or if the situation is not good, then try to build it.
