Hong Kong cricket team has qualified for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 after beating UAE by eight wickets in the final match of the Asia Cup Qualifiers. With this win, Hong Kong has become the sixth and the last team to participate in the 15th edition of the Asia Cup, beginning August 27 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Let us tell you, qualifier matches were played between four teams Hong Kong, Kuwait, Singapore and UAE for a place in the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 that is to be played between Asia's best teams. Hong Kong cricket team has made it to the Asia Cup 2022 with a bang by winning all the three matches of the qualifying round.

However, it is not going to be an easy road ahead for Hong Kong in the 2022 Asia Cup, as they are placed in Group A along with the favourites for the whole thing, India and Pakistan, making it almost impossible for Hong Kong to qualify for the next stage. Let us tell you, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh are all placed in Group B for the tournament.

Hong Kong's first match in Asia Cup 2022 is against India on 31st August, while the second match is going to be against Pakistan on 2nd September. The results of these matches will decide the future of the Hong Kong team in the Asia Cup 2022.

If we talk about the match, the UAE team, batting first, was all out for just 147 runs. For UAE, skipper CP Rizwan top-scored with 49 off 44 balls, while Zawar Farid scored 41 off 27 balls, while for Hong Kong, Ehsan Khan and Ayush Shukla took four and three wickets respectively.

Chasing a target of 148 runs to win, the Hong Kong cricket team won the match for the loss of two wickets in the 19th over, thanks to a brilliant half-century from Yasim Murtaza and an unbeaten 38 off 26 balls by Babar Hayat. Junaid Siddique and Basil Hameed took a wicket each for UAE.
