Former India Head Coach Ravi Shastri explains Dinesh Karthik's role for India in T20WC 2022

Former Indian cricket team Head Coach Ravi Shastri has given a big statement regarding the chances of Dinesh Karthik's selection into the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2022.
Dinesh Karthik had a great season in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 edition, earning a name of a finisher while playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise.
Ravi Shastri believes that Karthik should be included as a finisher in the World Cup squad in the Indian team and added that he will have to do the same work that MS Dhoni used to do.
Karthik batted brilliantly this season while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore and on the basis of that, the selectors have named him in the Indian team for the five-match T20I series against South Africa. Karthik scored 330 runs in 16 matches of IPL 2022 at a strike rate of 183.33 and an average of 55. During this he remained unbeaten 10 times.
During a discussion on Star Sports, Ravi Shastri was asked about Dinesh Karthik's inclusion in the Indian T20 World Cup squad. To which, he said that Karthik's role would very much depend on what the team is looking for, whether it is a top-order batter or a finisher.
"Do they want a keeper who will bat at the top of the order or do they want a keeper who will be the finisher? I will go for the latter. You need a keeper who will do MS Dhoni's role," said the former India boss.
He continued that he himself prefers a wicketkeeper batter as a finisher and added that team needs a keeper who can play the role of MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant.
Karthik was running out of the Indian team for the last three years and he has got a chance once again. This time he will try to show the power of his bat in the T20 series against South Africa and seize the opportunities to present his claim for the T20 World Cup.
