"Have seen him cry" - Virat's ex-Delhi teammate opens up on his "Emotional" side
Virat Kohli has gone through many ups and downs in his career, and currently he is going through the roughest patch of his batting career.
He hasn't been able to score a century in any form of cricket for the last three years and that is becoming one of the talking points in the cricketing world.
Although he has managed to score a number of half-centuries in this period, he hasn't had the success for which he is known for.
He scored his last hundred in November 2019 against Bangladesh in Test match cricket. His struggle continued in the recently concluded season of the Indian Premier League.
The former RCB skipper added 341 runs in 16 innings at an average of 22.73, with only two half-centuries. His performance in the season was one of the worst in his IPL career. Notably, his former Delhi teammate Pradeep Sangwan has opened up about the emotional side of Virat Kohli.
Sangwan was also his teammate in the U19 World Cup triumph of 2008. In an interaction with News24 Sports, he said that he has seen the former Indian skipper even cry when he failed to score runs during his early days.
The left-arm pacer said that people have just seen his passion and aggression, but not many would know how emotional he is.
He added that they were roommates for 5–6 years and further said that when Virat is alone or with his close friend, he speaks openly.
Sangwan stated that the former Indian skipper gets distrubed whenever he doesn't get runs and he has been the same since his early days.
He concluded, "I have seen him cry when he would not score runs. I was his roommate and I have seen this first hand. He would get really emotional when he wouldn't score runs."
RCB ended the season in third place. On the other hand, Sangwan was with Gujarat Titans, who lifted the IPL trophy. He also played three games and picked up three wickets at an economy rate of 7.22.
He has been part of the IPL on a few occasions. Sangwan has played for Delhi Daredevils (Delhi Capitals), Kolkata Knight Riders, and Mumbai Indians.
