"He asked me to wait" - Dwaine pretorius Reveals how he got green signal from Ms Dhoni to go for scoop shot

CSK and MI always bring the thrill and nail-biter of a game each and every time they meet. That's what the world witnessed on Thursday when these two teams met at the DY Patil Stadium. It was one of the best games of the TATA IPL 2020 and, statistically, it was the most viewed match as per the viewership. And why not? Both teams gave their all, but in the end, it was the defending champions that came out victorious, courtesy of Thala Dhoni's finishing act.

MS Dhoni once again did what he has been doing for the last 15 years: finishing games for his team in crunch situations. The former CSK captain did the unthinkable once more to help CSK win their second match of the season. Needing 17 runs off the last over, MSD smashed one six and two fours off Jaidev Unadkat to seal the deal for the Yellow Army. He ended up with an unbeaten 28 runs off 13 balls.

But he was not the only one that helped CSK chase down the target. The South African all-rounder, who was playing just his third game of the season, showed a lot of maturity and played a cameo to help his team inch closer to a win. Dwaine Pretorius scored a quick 22 runs off 14 balls, including two fours and one maximum. But he got out on the first ball of the final over.

He, along with MSD, added 33 runs off just 21 balls for the seventh wicket. But after getting out, he also witnessed another masterclass from Dhoni. And after winning the match, the all-rounder also revealed the plan he had when he was batting with MSD. He also disclosed that he wanted to play the scoop shot in the 17th over, but MSD asked him to wait. And in the 19th over, when he again asked the former CSK skipper, he said to play.

That's how he planned to play it in the penultimate over by Bumrah. Pretorius said, "I wanted to go for that scoop shot in the first over against Bumrah (his third), but he (Dhoni) said, 'Wait, wait, wait'. I waited and the next over I said, 'Now I'm going.' And he said to go for it."

That is how it ended, and CSK got two vital points off the table. The Yellow Army is sitting in the 9th spot with two wins out of seven matches. They will now face the Punjab Kings in their next match on Monday, April 25 at the Wankhede Stadium.
