"He has the same class like MS Dhoni"- Ex-IND Legend draws massive comparison for Indian Star Batter
2022 hasn't gone India's way so far. The Men in Blue have struggled to win any major series or tournament. However, amid all those performances, India has certainly got some players performing consistently throughout the year.

One of them is India's all-format star batter Shreyas Iyer, who has shown brilliant form with the bat across all three formats in 2022. He is also India's leading run-scorer in this calendar year. Iyer continued his form in the first test against Bangladesh at Chattogram as well.

The 28-year-old scored crucial 86 runs in the first inning and added a vital 143-run partnership with Cheteshwar Pujara, which set India up for a big score in the first inning of 404. He was also among the top run scorers in the three-match ODI series with 109 runs at 36.33.

However, Iyer hasn't gotten regular chances in the team, and India picks him only in the absence of the senior players. But his current form has certainly caught the attention of many. Former Indian star Mohammed Kaif was also among those former cricketers who lauded the 28-year-old.

In a discussion on Sony Sports after the end of the first test, Kaif also compared Iyer to India's former captain, MS Dhoni. He said that Iyer has done a tremendous job in 2022, consistently scoring runs for India across formats.

Kaif said, "We always talk about Dhoni that he doesn't look good but scores runs and wins matches. Shreyas Iyer also has the same class, he knows how to make runs. There is a weakness, gets out while playing the pull shot but despite that, he has a good record in 2022."

Furthermore, he also stated that Iyer has played well against both spin and pace. He uses his feet against spinners and showed decent technique against short ball as well, and it was his inning that helped India take the lead in the first inning.

Kaif also shared his views on Iyer's issues with short ball. He said that every batter has some issue or weakness, and it will remain forever, but it depends on how he will deal with it, and what Iyer has done is commendable.

India registered a 188-run win in the first test on Sunday to take an unassailable lead in the two-match series. The second test is scheduled to begin on Thursday. With this win, India has jumped to the second spot in the ongoing World Test Championship table.
