Here's why Adil Rashid is set to miss upcoming India home series

Adil Rashid will miss India series

The rescheduled test between India and England will start from July 1. Both teams are preparing well for this much awaited clash. England is currently playing against New Zealand and Indians are playing a warm up game against Leicestershire XI. After the completion of this 5th test. India and England will clash in limited overs matches starting from July 7.

In this white ball series against India, England leg spinner Adil Rashid will make his way to Mecca for the Hiji pilgrimage. So he will not play the white ball series against India. We all know Adil Rashid is a world class spinner but he is very underrated. He takes important wickets at crucial times. It will be a huge setback for England since they don’t have a correct backup player for Adil Rashid.

Adil Rashid will not be able to compete on the later stages for the Yorkshire team in the ongoing T20 Blast campaign. He has requested a leave from the ECB and he was provided with it. Yorkshire also respected his decision and granted him leave.

Adil Rashid said to ESPN Cricinfo that, “ I’ve been wanting to do it for a little while but I’ve found it pretty difficult with the timings”. He also said that this year it was his priority to do this. He also said that he had encouraging words from the cricket boards saying, “ you do what you’ve got to do and then come back when you can”. Adil Rashid also said that he will be there for a couple of weeks with his wife.

Adil Rashid is expected to return to England in the middle of July and join the team ahead of white ball series against the Proteas. Meanwhile he will be badly missed in the white ball competition against team India. It will be huge for India, since it will be hard for England to find a backup for Adil Rashid.
