"Release him, you can buy him back cheaper" -Aakash Chopra names a pacer RCB should release ahead of IPL 2023
However, they still did a decent job. However, there are still some areas that they need to focus on before the next season. Former Indian Test opener Aakash Chopra reviewed the team's performance and shared his views.
Aakash highlighted the performance of Mohammed Siraj and said that RCB might look to release him ahead of the IPL 2023. He added that if RCB releases him, the biggest question for them will be whom they will pick to replace him.
The former Indian opener said, "Mohammed Siraj was retained for seven crores. You may release him. You can buy him back cheaper actually, he will not be sold for seven crores now."
He also added that RCB already have the services of Josh Hazlewood and Harshal Patel and have also done an amazing job for them. Aakash also pointed out that Aakash Deep did a decent job. He further said that this season hasn't gone Siraj's way.
Siraj had the worst economy this season. He gave away runs at an economy rate of 10.07 and only took 9 wickets in just 15 matches. He also conceded the most sixes (31) this season, the most ever by an IPL bowler in any season.
On the other hand, the former opener also pointed out that the RCB should also release the opening batter, Anuj Rawat. He said that the left-hander only played one good innings and he was also dropped from the team.
If the franchise wants to stick with Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis at the top, they can drop Anuj because it will give them back the 3.4 crore that they spent on him. Concluding the conversation, he said that they should also release Sherfane Rutherford and David Willey as they didn't do much in whatever opportunities they got.
