"Do not compare him with his father" - Kapil Dev urges fans to not put pressure on Arjun Tendulkar

The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League has given many young uncapped players the chance to play among the best in the game of cricket. As a result, there are a bunch of young players that have come under consideration and have caught the attention of many. 

However, there were a few who didn't make it to the playing XI. And one of the most talked player is Arjun Tendulkar. The son of Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, he has been part of the Mumbai Indian setup for the last two seasons. But till date, he hasn't made his debut for the five-time champions in the IPL.

This season, there was speculation that he might be getting the opportunity to make his debut after the horrible season, but it didn't happen. Now the former Indian skipper, Kapil Dev, has come up and urged the fans to not put much pressure on the young all-rounder.

Arjun is a left-arm pacer who can bat at any place. He plays the role of an all-rounder and made his U19 debut against Sri Lanka in 2019. But later, he was not picked for the U19 World Cup. On Uncut, Kapil said that irrespective of the fact that Arjun is the son of Sachin, people should not talk much about him.

The 1983 World Cup-winning captain also highlighted that Don Bradman's son could not handle the pressure of the expectations people had of him being the son of the great Bradman. As a result, he changed his surname. 

Kapil urged the fans that "Don't put pressure on Arjun. He is a young boy. Who are we to say anything to him when he has the great Sachin as his father?  If you can become even 50 percent like your father, there is nothing better."

He further said that he would suggest Arjun to go and play his natural game and don't take the pressure on himself, because if he can become half as good as his father, that will be brilliant. Notably, the junior Tendulkar has played two T20 games and has two wickets to his name at an economy of 9.57.

On the other hand, the MI head coach, Mahela Jayawardene, said that Arjun is a really good player, but he needs to work on some departments before making it to the playing XI of the five-time champions.
