"To have someone like him in Australia will be a huge plus" - Sunil Gavaskar names an Indian pacer for the T20 WC

India lost the second successive match in the ongoing five-match T20I series against South Africa. The batsmen didn't manage to score runs, and the bowling looked ordinary. Apart from Bhuvneshwar Kumar, none of the bowlers made any significant impact. In fact, other bowlers leaked runs also.

Till the time Bhuvneshwar was bowling, South Africa was finding it hard to score. But soon as he finished his spell, the visitors saw the opportunity and took on other bowlers. In a score of 148, Bhuvi bowled four overs for just 13 runs and took four wickets as well, while the other bowlers gave away 136 runs in 14.2 overs and took only two wickets.

In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami, the veteran pacer has certainly made an impact. Former Indian skipper, Sunil Gavaskar, believes that it is a good sign for Bhuvi to have a place in the upcoming T20I World Cup.

In a discussion on Star Sports, Gavaskar praised the veteran pacer. He said that Bhuvi has got the ability to swing the ball irrespective of the conditions and that was a great move by Pant to give Bhuvi the third over on the trot as he picked up the wicket of Rassie van der Dussen in that over.

The former legend further said, "But to have someone like him in Australia, where there will that little bit of more carry and bounce, I think that will be a huge plus."

The veteran pacer bowled in a good channel and was seen in a great rhythm. He picked up three wickets within the powerplay and then came back in the end to knock out Wayne Parnell and ended the match with a figure of 4/13.

Former South African skipper Greame Smith also lauded the veteran pacer. He said, "He was just outstanding. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was good thinking…and skill-level as well."
