Yuvraj Singh is one of the best T20 players that the format has seen. While he was one of the main architects of India's victory in 2007, seven years later, Yuvi was at the other end of the spectrum. He played an innings of 11 from 21 balls which was one of the main reasons why India could make only 130 in the first innings against Sri Lanka in the finals of the 2014 T20 World Cup. Now, the former all-rounder, in an interview with News18, has come up and talked about that innings.

Yuvraj Singh talks about that infamous knock

Yuvi, after coming back from his cancer recovery, took his time to get back to form. It was at that time that his form was not great. Speaking of the same, he said, "During the T20 World Cup in 2014, I was very low on confidence. There was an atmosphere where I could get dropped. It’s not an excuse but I wasn’t getting enough support from the team. From the time of Gary, I was in Duncan’s era and things had completely changed in the team."

Yuvi further added, "When the final came, I just couldn’t hit the ball. I tried to hit the off-spinner and I couldn’t hit it and it went for dots. I tried to get out, but I didn’t get out." Sri Lanka chased that score to win their first-ever T20 World Cup.

India would want to do well in the T20 World Cup this year

Team India has not won the event since 2007. In 2021, it was a disastrous scenario as the men in blue got knocked out in the group stage. However, there is a change in management and the captain. Hence, there is an expectation that the new atmosphere might yield results in 2022. The upcoming T20 World Cup will take place in Australia later this year.
