Deepak Hooda, Sanju Samson gains big in latest T20I Ranking after Ireland T20I series
Indian team top order batsmans Deepak Hooda and Sanju Samson made a huge jump in the recently released ICC Men’s T20I rankings. Deepak Hooda scored a magnificent century in the second T20I against Ireland. Even Though India won only by 4 runs, Deepak Hooda was sensational with the bat and he also won the Man of the Match in the second T20I. He scored unbeaten 47 in the first T20I against Ireland and made India Successfully chase a tricky target easily.
Samson has climbed 57 positions to reach 144th with a knock of 77 in the second T20I, while Hooda has rocketed 414 positions to 104th after blasting 47 and 104 in the first and second T20I against Ireland. Pacer Harshal Patel moved from 37th to 33rd on the bowlers' list, while Mark Adair of Ireland jumped from 45th to 43rd.
With the Indian squad for the T20 WC is not announced yet, this series against Ireland was very crucial for players like Deepak Hooda, Sanju Samson, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, Dinesh Karthik. With this century against Ireland, Deepak Hooda has announced himself to International Cricket.
Sanju Samson was also good with his bat scoring 77 runs in one game. Many former Indian cricketers are not happy with Sanju Samson because he was not maintaining his consistency with the bat so this may be the breakout innings for him. With this injury, Ruturaj Gaikwad may have lost a way to get a place in the Indian team for the World Cup. Ishan Kishan may get a place in the squad but Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul will open the innings for India if both are fit to play.
Talking about the rescheduled test match against England, Indian Captain Rohit Sharma who tested positive for Covid- 19 earlier this week may miss this match. The Indian team will monitor his situation and take a final call. Jasprit Bumrah may lead the Indian team against England if he did not recover within the time.
