India scripts World record with a 317-run win vs SL in 3rd ODI
He struck his third ODI century in the last four innings, and it was a marathon performance from Virat Kohli. He smashed an unbeaten 166 off just 110 balls with 13 boundaries and 8 sixes in his epic inning.
India posted yet another 350-plus total in the series. The visitors scored a massive score of 390/5 in their first inning. Batting first, India got off to a brilliant start with a 95-run partnership for the first wicket. Rohit Sharma scored 42 off 49 balls with two fours and three sixes. Then, Shubham Gill and Virat Kohli added 131 runs for the second wicket.
Gill continued his form and scored his second ODI century. He made 116 off 97 runs with 14 fours and two sixes. Virat added another 108 runs for the third wicket with Shreyas Iyer (38 off 32) to take India over the 330-run mark.
Virat reached his century off 84 balls and smashed the next 66 runs off just 26 balls to help India post a huge total. It was his 46th ODI century, and he is just three centuries behind Sachin Tendulkar (49).
In reply, Sri Lanka couldn't catch up with the run rate and kept losing wickets from the start. Mohammed Siraj took four wickets and didn't allow the Sri Lankans to bat freely. As a result, the whole team got dismissed for just 73 runs in 22 overs. Team India won the game by a record-breaking margin of 317 runs.
India registered the biggest wins in the history of 50-over cricket. Virat won the "Man of the Match" and "Man of the Series" awards. He scored his 46th ODI century in 259 innings, while Sachin completed 49 centuries in 452 innings.
