India's injury woes continue, Star all-rounder set to miss the T20 World Cup
Having won the first two matches in the group stage, India qualified for the "super four" stage in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022. They will face archrivals Pakistan in their first match of the next round on Sunday. But ahead of that match, India suffered a huge blow.

Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who played a big role in both victories, was ruled out of the tournament due to a knee injury. However, India announced Axar Patel as his replacement in the team. But now some media reports suggest that Jadeja is likely to miss the upcoming T20 World Cup as well due to knee surgery.

The all-rounder will have to have knee surgery, which will keep him out of action indefinitely. Notably, Jadeja played an important innings of 35 runs against Pakistan and took 1/15 in four overs against Hong Kong.

The all-rounder is an important part of the Indian XI, who provides the required balance to the team in all three departments. His absence will be a big loss for the Men in Blue and their chances in the T20 World Cup. A BCCI source confirmed Jadeja's knee surgery.

The source said, "Jadeja’s right knee injury is pretty serious. He is supposed to undergo a major knee surgery and will be out of action for indefinite period of time. At this point, if one goes by the assessment of the NCA’s medical team, one can’t put a timeline on his imminent international comeback."

The report suggests that it is a case of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), which can take up to six months to recover. However, the all-rounder is certain to miss at least three months of upcoming action because his knee problem has been with him for a long time now.

The all-rounder also missed half of the season of the IPL 2022 due to an injury. It will take a long time to recover and complete the rehabilitation program. It means that India might miss the services of their prime spin-bowling all-rounder in the mega event.
