Jos Buttler names ideal opening partner from past and present generation

Jos Buttler reveals the name of the Indian batsman he wants as his opening partner

Jos Buttler needs no introduction in the game of cricket. And the form he is showing in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League is just unthinkable. The England swashbukling opener is in the form of his life and is showing why he is widely regarded as the best T20 batter in the current era. He has also hit three centuries this season in just seven matches. His numbers this season are astonishing. He has hit four centuries in the last eight IPL innings.

He hit his first hundred of the season against MI and followed it up with another century against Kolkata Knight Riders. Last night he scored his third and most recent century against DC. It was his herculine effort that helped RR post a winning total of 222 in 20 overs. Buttler's extraordinary performance so far has put Rajasthan Royals at the top of the table. He is also leading the chart of the highest run-scorers in 2022. Buttler has scored a total of 491 runs in seven matches, which is almost double that of KL Rahul's 265 at the second spot.

Although he has batted with various batsmen at the international level and in various leagues around the world, Buttler has named two batters from the past and current generation as his dream partners at the top. During a cricket show "Polite Enquiries" on ESPNcricinfo, the English opener revealed two batters that he wants as his partners. He said that from the past he wanted to see Vivian Richards to play T20 cricket as his opening partner. He said, "From the past, it would be Vivian Richards. I would love to see him play T20 cricket. From the current, Rohit Sharma."

However, he also spoke about a bowler that he did not want to face. Buttler said that he finds it tough to face Rashid Khan, especially in the power play, because he has gotten him out a few times. The English opener also recalled his innings of 93 runs in 2018 against the Mumbai Indians as his best IPL innings.

He has already scored three centuries this season and needs one more to become only the second batter after Virat Kohli to score four centuries in a single season. And given the form he is in at the moment, it looks like he will do it in the very next match. RR is scheduled to play their next match with Royal Challengers Bangalore on Tuesday, April 26 at the MCA Stadium in Pune.
