"Just like a Normal Match.."- Babar Azam opens up about Pakistan's chances against India in the Asia Cup 2022
The last time these two teams played a bilateral series was in 2013, and after that they only played in multi-national tournaments. That is the main factor which makes this clash the iconic match of the tournament. The last time both teams met was in the T20 World Cup 2021.
And now both teams will play again in the upcoming Asia Cup later this month. That match will take place on Sunday, August 28 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. And ahead of the match, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has shared his thoughts on the upcoming mega clash.
Both teams will play three ODIs each ahead of the Asia Cup. India will take on Zimbabwe, while Pakistan will lock horns with the Netherlands. India has named a second-string team for the ODIs while Pakistan has named a full-strength squad.
In the latest press conference ahead of the Netherlands tour, Babar opened up on the clash against India. He said that Pakistan always try to take it as a normal game, but because it is India, obviously there is a different kind of pressure in the match.
When asked about the match against India, Babar said, "We always try to play it like a normal match, but yes, there is definitely different pressure [on us]."
Notably, India are the defending Asia Cup champions and have won it seven times, which is the most in its history. On the other hand, Pakistan has only won it twice so far. The last time these two teams met in the competition, India won both games and Pakistan only took three Indian wickets in two games.
