Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have suffered a major setback in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season. Team's veteran fast bowler Pat Cummins has been ruled out of the tournament due to hip injury.

Cummins has a hip injury problem, although his problem is not very big, but due to the busy international schedule coming up, he will not play in the further IPL matches as a precaution. According to reports, Pat Cummins is returning to Sydney the earliest possible.

With Kolkata's chances of making the playoffs in IPL 2022 very slim, Pat Cummins will go through the rehabilitation process after returning home. Australia will be touring Sri Lanka next month and Pat Cummins being fully fit becomes very important for the Aussies.

However, Cummins will not be able to take part in the T20I series against Sri Lanka. It was already announced that he would not be a part of the team during the three-match T20I series.

At the same time, in the Test format, he will be seen leading the team. While after the Sri Lanka tour, Australia has to play the T20 World Cup, to be hosted by Australia itself. Australia are the current T20 champions and it will be a big challenge for them to defend their crown. Apart from this, Australia has a lot of cricket to play. They are set to tour India for the Test series and also the Ashes series coming up soon.

If we talk about Pat Cummins, then his performance in IPL was not at his best. In terms of bowling, he could not perform to the best of abilities, as he took only 7 wickets in 5 matches. Although in batting, he had definitely given victory to the team by scoring a half-century in a match against Mumbai Indians, where he scored the fastest half-century in just 14 balls.
