Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Lahore Qalandars owner Sameen Rana has highlighted the similarities between India's upcoming young pacer Umran Malik and Haris Rauf and stated that the former is being groomed in the same manner as Haris.

Umran Malik was one of the most promising star to have rose to fame in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season, catching eyes of everyone with his sheer pace bowling.

He was brought into the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad after Hyderabad's pace T Natarajan suffered a injury. He took full advantage of the opportunity given to him, clocking over the speed of 150 KMPH on a consistent basis.

After his performance in the IPL 2021, the lad also called up to the Indian cricket team as the net bowler and has impressed the captain and the coach as well. And as a result of his performance in the IPL 2021, Sunrisers Hyderabad retained the services of the pacer.

Sameen Rana during a conversation with Paktv.com, mentioned that he is happy with Umran's story and can be as successful as Haris Rauf. He also mentioned that they have a similar backstory, both having not much first-class experience at the time of their breakthrough.

"If you look at Umran Malik’s story, you will see that it has been a Haris Rauf-inspired story," stated Rana.

He also added that both started off their career with white-ball and belongs from Jammu and Kashmir and has no background of first-class cricket before that.
