Somerset will host Derbyshire on Saturday night in the fourth and final Quarter-Final of the 2022 Vitality Blast. In the South Group, Somerset ended the group stage in second position after Surrey, who took first place. Derbyshire finished third in the North Group with 18 points from 14 games.
In the match Somerset won the match comfortably by 191 runs. In this encounter Somerset set a target of 266 in 20 overs thanks to the magnificent batting from Rilee Rossouw and Tom Banton. In this match Derbyshire leg spinner Mattie McKiernan set an unwanted record as a bowler who gave away most runs in his 4 overs. He gave 82 runs in his 4 overs. The leggie was taken for an economy of 20.5 in his 4 overs.
Recently in the rescheduled Test match against England, Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah took on Stuart Broad for 35 runs in an over. It was not the first time an Indian batter hammered Stuart Broad. Yuvraj Singh slammed 6 sixes in 6 balls in the T20 WC 2006. Bumrah came one run short as he scored 35 runs in an over which includes no ball and a wide.
Talking about this quarter final match Derbyshire scored only 74 runs in reply to the chase of 266 runs in 20 overs. No players in the Derbyshire team went on to score more than 15 runs as they handled a massive defeat by 191 runs. Meanwhile Somerset boys have gained a massive boost as they march into the Semi Finals.
In the semifinals of T20 blast Somerset will play against Hampshire in Birmingham on 16th July. Hampshire, which was led by James Vince, defeated Warwickshire by 104 runs in their Quarter-finals match. In the other semifinal Yorkshire will play against Lancashire in Birmingham.
