Netherlands international Logan van Beek named in New Zealand A squad for India tour

The New Zealand Cricket (NZC) on Thursday, on the 18th of August, officially announced the New Zealand A team's squad for the upcoming series against India in which they will play India A in red and white ball format.

The New Zealand cricket team is set to play the Indian cricket team when the Kiwis will visit the country after the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. But, prior to that, the Blackcaps' A squad will head to India to play against the India A team.

This will be the first time after the last time in 2018 that New Zealand A team will be action in overseas conditions since after the last time in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) against Pakistan.

In the team announced on the 18th of August on Thursday, a total of 7 players with prior International experience will play part in the series. The series will be played in September, however, the seniors will play India after the T20 World Cup only.

Among the seven players with prior International experience are Michael Rippon, Rachin Ravindra, Jacob Duffy, Dane Cleaver, Mark Chapman, Tom Bruce. Other than that, five new faces who are joining the A squad are Chad Bowes, Matt Fisher, Ben Lister, Robbie O'Donnell and Joe Walker.

Other than that, Logan van Beek, who plays international cricket for the Netherlands team, has also been selected into the New Zealand A squad for the tour as it is allowed as per ICC's eligibility rules. Tom Bruce and Robbie O'Donnell have been named the co-captains for the series.

The New Zealand team will depart on the 26th of August and will 3 four day matches and as many One Day matches that are to be played in Bangalore and Chennai respectively.
