The West Indies cricket team is witnessing a lot of changes at the moment, in which the team's most experienced player and brilliant all-rounder Kieron Pollard surprised everyone with his sudden decision to retire from international cricket.

After which, Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced to hand over the responsibility to wicket-keeper batsman Nicholas Pooran as the new limited overs captain of the team.

Nicolas Pooran was supposed to be the captain of the West Indies limited overs team when Pollard announced his retirement. In fact, for a long time, Pooran was carrying out the responsibility of vice-captaincy for the team. Apart from this, he has also handled the responsibility of captaincy for the team in some matches in the absence of the veteran all-rounder.

Kieron Pollard was appointed the captain of the West Indies limited overs team in the year 2019, replacing Jason Holder. Pollard, the 34-years-old, was expected by everyone that he atleast would represent them in the T20 World Cup 2022 later this year.

In an official statement issued by Cricket West Indies on the 3rd of May, they announced that it has been decided to appoint Nicholas Pooran as the new captain of the West Indies men's ODI and T20I team.

With this, the left-hand batsman will now shoulder the responsibility of captaining the team in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 to be held in Australia and the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 to be held in India. Apart from this, Sai Hope has been appointed as the vice-captain of the team.

Nicholas Pooran, who made his international debut in the year 2016, had to work hard to cement his place in the team. The 26-year-old is known for his aggressive batting, who has the ability to change the course of the match at any time.
