Not Australian or Pakistani; Faf du Plessis names an Indian bowler who gave him "sleepless nights" in International cricket
Du Plessis is one of the best all-format players that South Africa has ever produced. And even after not playing for South Africa, he has been playing in various T20 leagues around the world.
In a recent interaction with ESPN Cricinfo, Du Plessis revealed the bowler who has always troubled him and gave him "sleepless nights" in the longest format of the game. He has named star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja as the bowler who has troubled him.
When asked about the most difficult bowler to face, Du Plessis said, "Saeed Ajmal quite a bit. Then Test matches in India, it was Ravindra Jadeja."
Notably, Jadeja has been out of action for more than six months. He sustained an injury to his knee during the 2022 Asia Cup in the UAE, which ruled him out of action, and since then, he has been in rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).
Although the BCCI has picked him for the first two tests in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy starting in February, but his availability will depend on the fitness test. His availability will be very important for India as they need to win the BGT series 3-1 or 3-0 to qualify for the final of the World Test Championship 2021-23.
Jadeja has played 60 tests in his career so far and scored 2523 runs, including three centuries and 17 half-centuries, with a high score of 175, while in 50-over cricket he has played 171 ODIs and scored 2447 runs with 13 half-centuries.
He has 242 wickets in tests and 189 in ODIs. Furthermore, Du Plessis also named his three favourite players to talk about cricket. He said, " Kane Williamson, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni."
