Oldest Playing XI from the 2022 T20 World Cup

The T20 World Cup will begin on October 16 with the first match between Sri Lanka and Namibia. Top 16 teams in the game will fight to become World Champions. A total of 240-250 players will play in the competition from 16 teams. Well, the T20 format was considered as a format for young players.

But over time, this perception has totally changed, and now we see that every team wants their experienced players to play in the World Cup. This upcoming WT20 also has some players who are vastly experienced and also aged. So we bring you the oldest XI from the upcoming T20 World Cup.

1. Openers (35+ Years Age)

Openers are the backbone of any batting attack. So we have chosen two of the most experienced openers in the competition, who are Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and Australian David Warner. Rohit (35 years and 158 days) and Warner (35 years and 343 days) are two of the oldest and best openers in the tournament.

2. Middle Order (35+ Years Age)

Apart from openers, Nos. 3, 4, and 5 are very important batting positions in T20 cricket because they can make or break a game situation. So we have three of the oldest and best middle order batters in England's Dawid Malan (35 years and 32 days), all-rounder Moeen Ali (35 years and 108 days) and New Zealand batter Martin Guptill (36 years and 5 days). These three are among the top batters in their respective countries.

3. All-rounders

Moeen Ali is a good all-round option in the team. But if we need to pick a genuine all-rounder in both spin and pace bowling, we will go for No. 1 ranked T20I all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan (35 years and 195 days) for the spin department and English all-rounder Chris Woakes (33 years and 217 days) for pace bowling.

4. Wicket-keeper (35+ Years Age)

The 2022 T20 World Cup has some big wicket-keeper batsmen in the team, but speaking of the oldest, India's Dinesh Karthik makes the list at the top. DK was one of the few players who played in the 2007 World Cup in South Africa and will play in the 2022 edition as well. He is currently 37 years and 125 days old.

5. Bowlers

When it is about bowling, we have gone for one of the oldest and best spinners in India, Ravichandran Ashwin (36 years and 18 days). Ashwin is also among the highest wicket-takers in the competition. Apart from him, for the two remaining spots of pace bowling, we have picked pacers from New Zealand. Tim Southree (33 years and 298 days) and Trent Boult (33 years and 75 days) are among the most experienced and certainly the best pacers in the competition.

Oldest Playing XI: Rohit Sharma (IND), David Warner (AUS), Martin Guptill (NZ), Dawid Malan (ENG), Moeen Ali (ENG), Shakib Al Hasan (BAN), Chris Woakes (ENG), Dinesh Karthik (IND), Ravi Ashwin (IND), Tim Southee (NZ) and Trent Boult (NZ)
