Bangladesh cricket team director Khaled Mahmud has lashed out at the team after their humiliating defeat in the third and final T20 International against Zimbabwe. After a loss in the first match, Bangladesh made a resounding comeback with a win in the second T20I but then lost in the decider.

Zimbabwe beat Bangladesh by 10 runs in the third and final T20 International to win the three-match home T20I series 2-1 in what Khalid Mahmood described as a humiliating defeat for the visiting team.

Zimbabwe captain Craig Ervine won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 156 runs in 20 overs for the loss of eight wickets, thanks to a brilliant half-century from Ryan Burl (54). Mahedi Hasan and Hasan Mahmud took two wickets each for Bangladesh.

Chasing 157 runs for victory, Bangladesh team could only score 146 runs in 20 overs and they lost the match by 10 runs. Afif Hossain (39) scored the most runs for Bangladesh, while Victor Nyauchi and Brad Evans took three and two wickets respectively for Zimbabwe.

Khaled Mahmud told the press, “I am very disappointed. I didn't expect to lose to Zimbabwe. We are a much better team than Zimbabwe. I would call this defeat an insult. I will not give any excuse for this defeat of Bangladesh, because we should have won the T20I series. Our loss in this series is comical."

He further questioned the batting approach of the Bangladesh team. He said that the team cannot score runs at 90 or 110 strike rate while chasing a small target and added that some batsmen should have played attacking cricket.

With the T20I series defeat now, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe will now square-off in the One Day Internationals (ODI) starting from 5th of August at the Harare Sports Club in Harare.
