Playing XI if Team India could send a second team to T20 World Cup

Second XI India T20 WC

India is one of the cricketing nations that is brimming with talent at the moment. Especially for the T20 format, there are at least two to three genuine contenders for every spot in the XI. In this article, we take a look at the playing XI if Team India could send a second team to T20 World Cup.

The T20 WC later this year is an important event for India. It has been a long time since India lifted an ICC event. Especially after the disappointing show last year, it is important that India wins it. There are already discussions going on as to which would be the most suitable team that can be selected for the event. On that note, in this article, we select an XI if at all India sends a second team to the event.

Openers: Ishan Kishan and Prithvi Shaw

Ishan Kishan and Prithvi Shaw will be the openers in the playing XI if Team India could send a second team to T20 World Cup. While Ishan is struggling in IPL 2022, he has done well in a few games for India. Moreover, he seems to be the best option as the left-hander at the top. It is surprising that Prithvi Shaw has hardly played for India so far. An aggressive cricketer, India must soon utilize the talent of the opener.

Middle-Order: Rahul Tripathi, Shreyas Iyer (C), Sanju Samson, Dinesh Karthik (WK)

India's middle order has struggled in recent years but this area is improving now. There are a number of players who have shown that they can do the job in the middle order. Rahul Tripathi is seen as one of the best-uncapped players in the tournament so far. Although he is an opener, he is doing well at No.3 and hence, he takes the slot here. Shreyas Iyer would have preferred the No.3 slot but since Rahul Tripathi is an aggressive cricketer, Shreyas would be a better fit for this team in this slot. Sanju Samson has been in good form in IPL for a while now and he deserves a long run. DK is suddenly in the scheme of things after his terrific touch in IPL 2022. He comes in as the finisher for this XI.

All-Rounders: Axar Patel

There are not many established all-rounders who can replace Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja. However, of the lot, Axar Patel seems a good option and hence, he is in this playing XI if Team India could send a second team to T20 World Cup.

Bowlers: Shardul Thakur, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Umran Malik

Shardul Thakur is now bowling at the start of the innings in IPL 2022. He has done well and this makes him a good fit for this XI. Ravi Bishnoi and Kuldeep Yadav are both good contenders but the former has the skills to impact the game in a better way. Avesh Khan and Umran Malik have both been in superb form in recent seasons of IPL. Especially in Australia, these two pacers are useful and hence, they get a chance in this XI.
