Playing XI of Team India when Virat Kohli scored the famous 82(51) in Mohali: Where are they now?

Virat Kohli Mohali

India defeated Pakistan by 4 wickets in the first game for both teams at the 2022 T20 World Cup. It was a brilliant show by Virat Kohli that took India home. A few years ago, Virat won a game for India in a similar fashion in Mohali. On that note, in this article, we take a look at the playing XI of Team India when Virat Kohli scored the famous 82(51) in Mohali.

In Mohali, too, India was needing a lot of runs with very less wickets in hand. The equation looked impossible but Virat Kohli pulled the game out of Australia's grasp with his exquisite skills.

Openers: Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan

Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan were the openers in the playing XI of Team India when Virat Kohli scored the famous 82(51) in Mohali. The famed opening duo both got to double-digit scores but could not leave an impact on that day. While Rohit Sharma is the captain of the Indian Team right now, Shikhar is still a part of the ODI setup. The duo is all set to open the batting for India at the 2023 ODI World Cup if there are no major changes before then.

Middle-Order: Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni (C&WK)

While most wrote off Virat Kohli from the T20 format, the former India skipper is back to form. He will remain important to India's fortunes. Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni have all retired from the game. Only MS Dhoni is still playing in the IPL. Yuvi got a good start at Mohali but could not capitalize. MS Dhoni provided good support to Virat Kohli, especially while running between the wickets. MSD will next play in IPL 2023.

All-Rounders: Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja

Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja were the all-rounders in the playing XI of Team India when Virat Kohli scored the famous 82(51) in Mohali. Hardik and Jadeja are still a part of the Indian Team. While Hardik is currently playing in the 2022 T20 World Cup, Jaddu is injured and hence, he is not in Australia. If both are fit, they will be the preferred all-rounders for India in the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Bowlers: R Ashwin, Ashish Nehra and Jasprit Bumrah

R Ashwin scored the winning runs for India against Pakistan in the 2022 T20 WC. He was also part of that famous Mohali fixture. Ashish Nehra has retired from the game and is currently the Head Coach of Gujarat Titans. He won the IPL in the team's debut outing. Bumrah is injured and hence, is not playing the T20 World Cup. If he was available, he would have led the bowling attack.
