IPL 2022 on bench

It is almost halfway through IPL 2022 and a few players are yet to find their groove. Furthermore, some talented players are not even getting a chance in the playing XI. On that note, in this article, we take a look at the playing XI of cricketers who are yet to get a match in IPL 2022.

IPL is such a tournament that much of the proceedings depend on what happens at the auction table. While in some cases, a not-so-established player gets multiple chances in a playing XI, some players hardly get a game. We take a closer look at the latter scenario in this article.

Openers: Yash Dhull and Daryl Mitchell

Yash Dhull and Daryl Mitchell are the openers in this playing XI of cricketers who are yet to get a match in IPL 2022. Although Yash has just started playing senior cricket, he has already shown the immense skills that he has got. His contemporaries such as Dewald Brevis are getting good chances but Yash is yet to get a game for Delhi. On the other hand, Daryl is an established cricketer who did well in the 2021 T20 World Cup. Opportunities have not come by for the Kiwi at RR.

Middle-Order: KS Bharat (WK), Mahipal Lomror and Glenn Phillips

KS Bharat played well for RCB in the UAE phase of IPL 2021. He is yet to get a game for DC although the team has struggled to find a good No.3. Mahipal Lomror was set to be part of RCB playing XI but due to the balance of the XI, he is yet to get a chance. The SRH middle-order is doing well and hence, Kiwi wicket-keeper Glenn Phillips is yet to get a match in IPL 2022.

All-Rounders: Rishi Dhawan and Mohammad Nabi (C)

Rishi Dhawan and Mohammad Nabi are the all-rounders in this playing XI of cricketers who are yet to get a match in IPL 2022. Rishi has done well recently in domestic cricket and despite Punjab Kings struggling with their balance, Rishi is yet to get a game. With two offies already in the XI, Nabi was anyways going to find it hard to get a game for KKR. For his experience, he captains this squad.

Bowlers: R Sai Kishore, Kartik Tyagi, Chetan Sakariya and Jason Behrendorff

R Sai Kishore has been waiting for long to play in IPL. He is yet to get his chance and has been warming the bench at Gujarat Titans. Kartik Tyagi had fitness issues but he might still not get a chance although he is ready. This is because of the wonderfully performing SRH pace attack. The same goes with Behrendorff, who might find it hard to replace Josh Hazlewood at RCB. Sakariya, despite playing all games last season, is yet to play a single match in IPL 2022. Khaleel Ahmed has been doing well for Delhi and hence, Chetan is yet to get a game.
