Predicted England playing XI for 2022 T20 World Cup

England XI 2022 T20 WC

2019 50-over World Cup champions England had reached the semis of the 2021 T20 World Cup. However, they lost to New Zealand in the crucial encounter. The team would want to improve their performance in the next edition. On that note, in this article, we take a look at the predicted England playing XI for the 2022 T20 World Cup.

England has a good white-ball squad and will be one of the firm favourites to lift the trophy. That said, the Three Lions also have their share of issues. Most of it can get resolved if the fitness of important players is fine ahead of the competition.

Openers: Jonny Bairstow and Jos Buttler (WK)

Bairstow and Buttler will be the openers in this predicted England playing XI for the 2022 T20 World Cup. The duo will form arguably the best opening combination at the event. In recent years, both have been terrific with their displays. Jos Buttler has been in red-hot form and he will be the most important player for the team. Jason Roy will be a solid backup for this department.

Middle-Order: Phil Salt and Eoin Morgan (C)

This is one department that England could struggle with at the 2022 T20 World Cup. Eoin Morgan's form has not been great and it needs to be seen where he would operate in the batting order. Phil Salt has shown good form in recent months and is likely to take one spot in the batting line-up. Dawid Malan will also be in the plans but the southpaw has also not been in great form. The management could rather use Moeen Ali at No.3. This will improve the balance of the XI.

All-Rounders: Ben Stokes, Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali and Sam Curran

Ben Stokes was not part of the previous T20 WC. If he makes himself available for the tournament, England will have a strong team. Stokes will also fill in with a few overs of medium pace, something that will be useful in Australian conditions.

Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali and Sam Curran will form the core of this squad. All these three are seen as T20 specialists and have also displayed excellent form over the last few months. The performance of this trio could define the fortunes of England in the event.

Bowlers: Reece Topley, Mark Wood and Adil Rashid

Mark Wood and Adil Rashid will be the two players to have confirmed spots in this department of predicted England playing XI for the 2022 T20 World Cup. Jofra Archer is unavailable and hence, England will have to find a worthy pace option for this squad. While Reece Topley has done well recently, other options for England include Chris Woakes, Chris Jordan, Tymal Mills and Saqib Mahmood at the moment.
