Rohit Sharma Reveals That Criteria That Keeps Sanju Samson In Plans For T20 WC In Australia
Sanju Samson has returned to the Indian Team. The Kerala wicket-keeper batter will be a part of India for the upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka. Ahead of the series, Rohit Sharma had a few words to say about the player.
Sanju returns to Team India
After the tour of Sri Lanka in 2021, Sanju has not found a place in the Indian Team. Amidst this, players such as Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant have strengthened their spots in Team India. Hence, many expected that Sanju might not get a chance again. However, the Rajasthan Royals skipper got featured in the squad announced by BCCI recently.
The player will be in the plans for the T20 WC
Speaking about Sanju, Indian captain Rohit Sharma felt that the player has immense potential and it is up to him to how to make use of it. Rohit also confirmed that Sanju will be in Team India's plans for the T20 World Cup in Australia.
Speaking about it, Rohit Sharma said, "He is definitely into consideration, and that is why he is part of the team. His backfoot play is superb. When you go to Australia, you need that shot-making ability, Samson has it in him. I just hope he utilises his potential."
For Sanju, though, the competition will be immense. While the top-order has been frozen, Rishabh Pant is certain to be the wicket-keeper. Suryakumar Yadav is a strong contender for the No.5 slot while the likes of Hardik Pandya and Venkatesh Iyer will audition for the No.6 role. Hence, Sanju Samson has to do exceptionally well if he has to cement his spot for the T20 World Cup.
