SRH all-rounder Washington Sundar injured again, adds misery to World Cup selection
Sunrisers Hyderabad all-rounder Washington Sundar has again injured the bowling-arm in the 46th league match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 against Chennai Super Kings. The news was confirmed by SRH head coach Tom Moody, raising doubts about Sundar's availability for the next match against Delhi Capitals.
Due to injury while fielding against Chennai Super Kings, the 22-year-old could not bowl a single over. When he came to bat, he was out after playing just two balls. After the match, Moody spoke about Sundar's injury and admitted that his inability to bowl cost Sunrisers the game.
Moody said in a post-match press conference that it is unfortunate that Sundar has suffered an injury to the same arm that was injured earlier. He added that this time, the injury does not require stitches, but was unfortunately not in a position to bowl and it and affected their bowling, said Tom Moody.
Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad's formidable bowling attack looked weak in the match against CSK, with Chennai Super Kings openers Ruturaj Gaikwad (99) and Devon Conway (85 not out) giving them no chance. T Natarajan was the only wicket-taker for the Orange Army, as the left-arm pacer managed the only two wickets.
This also adds to misery of not making it to the India squad for T20 World Cup 2022. Washington Sundar has impressed in all the opportunities that he has got playing for Team India, and a good performance in the IPL 2022 would have meant he would have been in contention for a spot in the India squad for the T20 World Cup 2022 to be held later this year in Australia.
As for Chennai Super Kings vs Sunrisers Hyderabad match, chasing a mammoth target of 203 runs, the SRH batters did well but could not get the team over the victory line.
After losing the first two matches, Hyderabad has made a great comeback by winning five matches in a row. But now the team has again lost two consecutive matches. If now his team has to travel to the playoffs, then from here they will have to perform well in every match.
