Shikhar Dhawan reacts after being axed from the ODIs against Sri Lanka
Team India is set to host Sri Lanka for a white-ball tour starting on January 3. It will start with three T20Is and be followed by three ODIs. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the India squad for both T20Is and ODIs on Tuesday.

Some tactical and some forced changes were made in both teams. All the seniors were dropped or rested from the T20Is, and Hardik Pandya will be leading the side while Suryakumar Yadav will assist him in the shorter format.

On the other hand, all seniors, including skipper Rohit Sharma, are back for the ODIs with Hardik as a vice captain. However, one notable omission from the team was veteran Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan, who didn't have a great last few games.

Dhawan was already not in the plans for T20Is and Tests, and his exclusion from the ODIs indicates that India is looking beyond him now. The left-hander has been India's prolific run-scorer in 50-over tournaments for India in the last decade.

But it looks like he is not on India's radar for the 2023 ODI World Cup, which will be held in India. And just one day after his omission, the veteran pacer has shared a video of his workout session with an inspirational message in its caption.

He took to Instagram and wrote, “Gal jeet haar di nahi hundi, Jigrey di hundi hai. Kam kari chalo baaki hamesha Rabb di rza ch raho🤗🙏🏼 (It’s not about winning or losing, but about courage. We should do our work; rest is in God’s hands.)"

In the video, Dhawan is seen doing batting practise and also working on his fitness. The veteran opener failed badly in the three ODIs against Bangladesh. He registered the scores of 7, 8, and 3. But his ODI record is brilliant.

Dhawan had scored 6793 runs in 167 games at an average of 44.11, including 17 centuries and 39 half-centuries. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan have been doing well for India at the top of the order. The ODI series will end on January 15 at the Greenfield Stadium in Trivandrum.
