The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League has entertained fans across the world over the last one month. Yesterday evening, fans witnessed a match between defending champions Chennai Super Kings and Mayank Agarwal’s Punjab Kings at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

CSK won the toss and elected to bowl first. A fine half-century from Shikhar Dhawan guided the Mohali-based franchise to a score of 187 runs in the first innings. In reply, CSK ended with 176/6 and lost the game by 11 runs.

Rishi Dhawan, who was playing his first match since the 2016 edition of the Indian Premier League, received the hard task to bowl the final over of the match. CSK needed 27 runs off the last over. It seemed improbable, but with MS Dhoni in the middle, everything is possible.

Dhoni smacked a six on the first ball of the over, and then Dhawan bowled a wide. The equation came down to 20 runs off 5 deliveries, and all of a sudden, it looked like the Chennai Super Kings could win.

Just a few days ago, Dhoni scored 16 runs off four balls and helped the Chennai Super Kings trounce the Mumbai Indians in a last-ball thriller.

Kagiso Rabada heaped praise on Rishi Dhawan for defending 27 runs in the last over

Rishi Dhawan made a great comeback and bowled a dot ball. MS Dhoni then miscued a shot and handed a catch to Jonny Bairstow on the third ball as the equation was down to 20 off 3 balls. Ravindra Jadeja did hit a six, but it was too late as CSK lost by 11 runs eventually.

Speaking after the match ended, Kagiso Rabada told the host broadcasters:

“And Rishi, coming back and bowling that final over. He put his hand up. It's still a bit nerve-wracking when you're bowling at MS Dhoni and there's not one red shirt in the crowd, only yellow shirts chanting his name but he held his nerve and came out on top. Huge credit to him.”
