Strong XI of Indians who made their T20I debut in 2021 and 2022

Indian XI 2021 and 2022

The years 2021 and 2022, so far, have been very productive for Team India in terms of T20I cricket. A few players have arrived in the Indian Team and they are coming from the mould of the modern T20 category of cricketers. Hence, the results have also improved in the last two years. In this article, we take a look at a strong XI of Indians who made their T20I debut in 2021 and 2022.

IPL has been one of the main supply lines to the Indian T20I Team. A few performers from the league have gone on to do well for the country. This count has increased in the last few years. All of this bodes well for Team India in the future, especially with important ICC events coming up.

Openers: Prithvi Shaw and Ishan Kishan (WK)

Prithvi Shaw and Ishan Kishan are the openers of this strong XI of Indians who made their T20I debut in 2021 and 2022. It is interesting to note that Prithvi Shaw did not make his T20I debut until 2021. This is despite him doing well in the format for the last few years. He even has an international Test century to his name already. On the other hand, it was on the back of a stunning show in IPL that Ishan Kishan earned a place in Team India. He is still an active part of it and also played in the 2021 T20 World Cup.

Middle-Order: Ruturaj Gaikwad and Suryakumar Yadav (C)

Although he is a genuine opener, Ruturaj Gaikwad plays at No.3 for the balance of this XI. He is good against the spinners and can play the anchor role. Hence, he is a good fit. SKY has been the best debutante in the last two years. He is already the most important batter in the middle order for India in T20Is.

All-Rounders: Deepak Hooda and Venkatesh Iyer

Deepak Hooda and Venkatesh Iyer are the all-rounders in this strong XI of Indians who made their T20I debut in 2021 and 2022. The spin-bowling all-rounder initially was part of the ODI team and then got a chance in the T20 squad, as well. He even made a century recently against Ireland. Venkatesh Iyer has lost opportunities after Hardik Pandya's return. Nevertheless, he is still the backup for the position of medium-pace bowling all-rounder.

Bowlers: Harshal Patel, Avesh Khan, Ravi Bishnoi, Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh

Harshal Patel won the Purple Cap in IPL 2021. Hence, he made his India debut at the end of last year. Other top IPL performers such as Avesh Khan, Ravi Bishnoi, Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh have also made their India debut recently. All of these five bowlers are in the running to be a part of the 2022 T20 World Cup squad.
