Suryakumar Yadav equals Rohit Sharma's world record with a brilliant century vs NZ in 2nd T20I
India is taking on New Zealand in the second T20I of the three-match series at Bay Oval. After the first match got abandoned due to rain, the Indian team has certainly entertained their fans across the globe. The Black Caps won the toss and decided to put India in to bat first.

And it was once again a brilliant performance from No. 1 ranked T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav, who helped India reach a competitive total of 191/6 in their first innings. It was just all about SKY.

The 32-year-old scored his second T20I century and smashed the Kiwi bowlers to all parts of the ground. He returned unbeaten on 111* off 51 balls with 11 fours and 7 sixes. He came out to bat at No. 3 in the absence of Virat Kohli and made the most of the opportunity.

At the start, Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan looked a bit rusty, but once Suryakumar joined the crease after Pant (6 off 13) got out, he took the responsibility on himself and started playing his shots. He scored his fifty off 32 balls.

But once he reached half-century, he just changed gears and scored the next 61 runs off just 18 balls. Shreyas Iyer (13 off 9) looked good at the start but was unfortunate to get out hit-wicket of Lockie Ferguson. Kishan also got out to Ish Sodhi after scoring 36 off 31 balls.

But it was Suryakumar Yadav who took India to a good score, and with this century, the 32-year-old has also equaled the huge T20I record of Rohit Sharma. SKY has equaled Rohit's record of scoring two T20I centuries in a calendar year, as this is his second century in 2022. Previously, he scored it against England. Rohit scored two in 2018.

With this, Suryakumar has also become the only Indian batter to score a T20I century in New Zealand. Apart from this, he also became only the second Indian to score two T20I centuries away from home KL Rahul is another Indian. This was the second ton for Suryakumar, and he is second on the list with Rahul with two centuries.

Rohit Sharma is at the top with four centuries in this format by an Indian batter. India has given rest to senior players like Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli on this tour, and SKY is taking the responsibility pretty well.
