Suryakumar Yadav went past Mohammad Rizwan to script a World Record in 1st T20 vs SA

India won the toss and elected to bowl first. Deepak Chahar and Arshdeep gave India an incredible start by dismissing the top five South African batsmen for just nine runs. After that, Aiden Markram (25) and Keshav Maharaj (41) played useful knocks for the visitors.
Eventually, South Africa made 106/8 in the first innings. Arshdeep took three, while Harshal Patel and Chahar picked up two wickets each. It looked like an easy chase for the hosts, but the Indian batters struggled badly at the start.
India lost skipper Rohit Sharma for a duck, and Virat Kohli (2) couldn't do much. India managed only 17 runs in the power-play, which is their lowest in T20 history. Suryakumar Yadav joined the crease at 17/2 and changed the whole scene. SKY started his innings with two back-to-back sixes off Anrich Nortje.
He started playing his shots to take pressure off KL Rahul, who was looking a bit rusty at the start. However, both batters then launched an attack on the opposing bowlers. Both added an unbeaten stand of 93 runs for the third wicket to seal the victory for India.
SKY made 50* off 33 balls with five boundaries and three maximums, while Rahul hit a six to score his 19th T20I half-century and remained unbeaten on 51* off 56 balls with two fours and four maximums.
India won the match by 8 wickets with 20 balls to spare. Speaking of records, Suryakumar Yadav has broken a few during his knock of 50 runs. He has now become the first Indian batsman to cross 700 T20I runs in a calendar year. In 2022, SKY has scored 732 runs at an average and strike rate of 40.66 and 180.29.
