Punjab Kings and Indian team's veteran opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan has made a huge disclosure about his future as a cricketer. The star batsman said that he will definitely play for at least the next three years.

According to Dhawan, he still has a lot to achieve in his career. Shikhar Dhawan was not included in India's squad for the T20 World Cup played last year. He was replaced by Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul was also included. However, the performance of the Indian team in the tournament was not good and the team could not qualify for the semi-finals.

Shikhar Dhawan's performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 has been very good. He has played many great innings for his team Punjab Kings, leading them to victories. He is the sixth highest run scorer in this Indian Premier League season, having scored 421 runs in 13 matches and averages at 38.27.

In a conversation with PTI, Shikhar Dhawan reacted to his T20 career. Dhawan said that he has been an important member of the Indian team and is doing quite well in the format, does believes that he can help the team.

"I am playing for the next three years at least. I have been batting quite well for the past few years, I am hopeful and positive that the way I am performing," said Dhawan.

He said that he is doing whatever role is put before him and tries to score runs consistently, whether it's the IPL or the domestic level.

With his performance in this year's IPL, Shikhar Dhawan has at least put him in contention for a spot in the Indian cricket team for the upcoming South Africa T20I series, where he is unsurprisingly likely to lead the team in absence of some regular members, who are to be rested after a long IPL runs and the summer of cricket coming.

Talking about Dhawan's international career,  he made his ODI debut in the year 2010, but he was seriously in contention after his thunderous inning in his debut Test match against Australia.

He played an integral role in India's success in the 2013 Champions Trophy. In total, Dhawan has played 200 matches for India across all format, scoring near about 10,000 runs from them.
