The best combined Super Giants playing XI for 2023

Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants made a strong start to IPL by reaching the playoffs in their first campaign. The owners have also invested in the SA20 League. In this article, we take a look at the best combined Super Giants playing XI for 2023.

There are quite a few players such as Quinton de Kock and Kyle Mayers who play for both franchises. While in IPL, some elite cricketers such as KL Rahul and Mark Wood represent the Super Giants, in SA20, too, there are some popular names in the mix such as Keshav Maharaj and Dwaine Pretorius.

Openers: KL Rahul (C) and Quinton de Kock (WK)

KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock will be the openers for this best combined Super Giants playing XI for 2023. This is one of the best opening combinations currently in the IPL. While KL Rahul is the skipper of LSG, QDK is the captain of DSG. In the upcoming IPL, though, de Kock will have to be careful as he has a narrow margin for failure. Withe other wicket-keeping options such as Nicholas Pooran also in the squad, the franchise could try to have Kyle Mayers in the XI if QDK does not perform well.

Middle-Order: Nicholas Pooran and Heinrich Klaasen

LSG needed a left-hander in the middle-order and hence, they went hard for Pooran. He is likely to play at No.4 for the franchise. Heinrich Klaasen is an important player in the DSG line-up. He is great against spinners and is also good against the pacers. Therefore, he features in this XI.

All-Rounders: Deepak Hooda, Marcus Stoinis, Dwaine Pretorius

It will be a strong all-rounder's unit for this best combined Super Giants playing XI for 2023. The trademark of LSG, so far, is to have a lot of all-rounders. There are shades of this tactic in DSG, too. While Deepak Hooda and Marcus Stoinis represent IPL in this XI, Pretorius, who plays for CSK in IPL, will represent SA20 in this playing XI.

Bowlers: Keshav Maharaj, Mark Wood, Reece Topley and Ravi Bishnoi

When you take into account Keshav Maharaj and Krunal Pandya, the former ranks better as a spinner. Hence, he is in this XI. He will be joined by Ravi Bishnoi in the spin department. Mark Wood did not play IPL 2022 due to an injury. However, he is likely to play in the next season. Reece Topley, who plays for DSG, would be an apt choice as the new-ball bowler for this squad ahead of Mohsin Khan, who is inexperienced. Avesh Khan misses out due to his recent drop in form.
